Fisher Heights & Area Community Association

Martial Arts Fitness Club

Starting in March 2026
Every Wednesday from 4:30pm to 6:00pm
at Fisher Heights Community Center, Nepean  (31 Sutton Place)

What’s this club about?
The martial arts fitness club will be a weekly session for teens and adults dedicated to improving fitness through standard exercises from a variety of martial arts and kickboxing. This is NOT a self-defense nor a combat/sparring club. At no point should anyone ever be striking at another person. We will focus on getting fit and having fun while learning the forms, features and strategies for training used in tae kwon do, jeet kune do, kickboxing and other miscellaneous martial arts.

Each session will begin with cardio warm ups followed by stretching.  Then we will engage in various techniques involving kickboxing pads (one person holds a pad for another person to strike).  We will also learn some forms and routines (pre-arranged series of combat movements).  The idea is that we keep a good pace of activity so that everyone gets a good cardio workout in addition to having fun and learning some martial arts movements.  Each participant is welcome to go at their own pace and contribute ideas for new workouts we can do together.  The focus is to ensure everyone gets a good workout and has fun. We will end each session with a cool-down and light stretching.
