At the southern end of Steve McLean Park, near the corner of Deer Park and Meadowlands, stands the Long Park Tennis Club (the club did not have its name changed when the park itself was renamed after Fisher Heights’s former resident Steve McLean, a former astronaut).

Neighbourhood volunteer run

The club has been in operation since the 1960s and, since 1991, has been operated by a small group of neighbourhood volunteers, under the auspices of the City of Ottawa. The aim is to provide a safe and good environment within the Fisher Heights area where families can enjoy recreational tennis.

The club is located at 1170 Deer Park Road on the corner of Deer Park Road and Meadowlands). Four courts are available to members between April and the end of October,  seven days a week, dawn till dusk.

Entry to the courts is by a locked gate system which is necessary for insurance coverage. The lock is rekeyed every April; members who return their key at the end of a season do not have to pay a $15 key charge the following season.

Club Pro Jeff Sadrian & Gord Parr Offer Lessons

Why not give yourself, your spouse, children and grandchildren the gift of enhanced tennis skills that will last them a lifetime? Whatever level your game, you can always add more enjoyment to your time on the court with a few lessons and tips.

We are fortunate to have both Jeff Sadrian and Gord Parr as club pros. Jeff and Gord are certified tennis professionals with membership in the Tennis Professional Association and the Ontario Tennis Association. Their clients include adults and children. Jeff has many years of teaching and coaching experience as well as serving on the executive of an Ottawa tennis club and house league director. Gord is an Advisory Member of the St. James Tennis Club.

Please contact Jeff at  jeffsadrian@hotmail.com or Gord at jgparr@rogers.com for more information. Jeff has limited availability for the remainder of the season, but Gord, a popular presence on the Long Park courts, will be available for lessons until the end of the season.

Rental Rates

Fisher Heights Community Place, at 31 Sutton Place, is available for rent by individuals, families, community groups, and other organizations. The entire facility can be rented for as little as $40 an hour, or the Main Hall or Meeting Room can be rented individually (for meetings or program activities only) for lower rates as shown below.

Please note that no set-up, tear down, or janitorial services are provided. Renters must pay for all the time they are using the building, including set-up, tear-down and clean-up. And in addition to the rates listed on the chart below, all renters must provide a refundable $100 cleaning/damage deposit.
